Moss Oak alumni here having attended the RTO classes two weeks ago.
Looking forward to learning from others on this forum and seeing what community exists in PHX/AZ.
After the classes I've been inspired to work on HF at our house. It's a bit daunting due to it being a small townhouse, no yard, and in a HOA. Nonetheless, I hooked up my Yaesu 891 the other night and strung out line out the window of the second story. Small steps, and progress builds momentum I figure. Very improvised and sub-optimal but I was surprised nonetheless and how much I could hear (granted everyone was west of me...no contacts and I'm not sure if no one heard me or just ignored me). HF will be significantly easier at our off-grid property elsewhere in the state.
My 8/yo son knows CW so I'd like to get him hooked up to the radio sometime for the adventure of making contacts.
