Central NC here

I've got no idea what to post here, but here goes:

In August I moved to central NC from Minnesota partly to make it a lot easier to get myself into training courses without having to travel much. Gas is getting a whole lot of expensive and I don't like to fly commercial, so this was the next more radical jump to make... heh.

I moved in with my dad at first, got myself employment, then we both got sick and while I recovered, he didn't, and passed on Oct. 2, 2021. That left quite a number of things up in the air. I am in the process of trying to secure for myself and my daughter a more permanent home base here in semi-rural surroundings

That said, I'm trying to figure out how to attend the scout course in NC in February. It is, after all, one of my key reasons for moving here.

Welcome to the forum. I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad, that is really a gut punch. Contact NCS about the course, he's really good to work with.

Matt

Welcome to NC, and to the forum.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your father. It’s never easy, but it sounds like the circumstances likely made it even worse.

I’m also in Central NC - Chatham County.

Sorry about your loss that’s awful.

I hope 2022 treats you better.

Welcome and Happy New Year, and sorry about your dad. I feel the same about commercial travel, I refuse. Mostly that means I'll stay on our beautiful mountain, which is currently covered with 4 feet of snow! We got to spend the last week testing out our grid-down procedures and it was actually the longest power outage we've had, and the most successful, meaning we had what we needed and enjoyed the simple things of life and without any internet. The grid is still down, the internet is up, and we still have what we need grid-down.

Take care of you and that little girl. Go for that awesome training, I'll learn vicariously though the rest of you. Post what you can and I'll keep listening, reading, and learning.
