I'd venture to say that they will be ridiculously expensive to the point of being cost-prohibitive for even me as a vendor to obtain them. Maybe once the patent runs out and generic versions start becoming available. Cool technology nonetheless. I can't imagine how expensive the needed nanogenerator would be.

Right on, glad to hear that you thought the concept is interesting. Based on the materials described in the second link, the nanogenerator seems to be built with just common plastics (Teflon and a beverage packaging plastic) and copper foil. I'm sure that they didn't list all the materials used, but since there were no rare earths or other kind of rare materials mentioned, my guess is that most of the initial cost will be due to intellectual property rights. If that is the case, cost will essentially boil down to business strategy and whether the company with the patent wants to emphasize sales volume or premium pricing.

I'm a fan of most innovations. Especially medical ones. We've done some great things with technology, specifically in trauma.
And I definitely agree with that.
