I'm here because I'm interested in communications and becoming more comms literate, most especially within a SHtF framework. My favorite uncle (now dead) had been a radio tech, embedded as one of three Americans assigned to a Turkish regiment during the Korean war. When he had signed up for infantry they made him a landmine sweeper, until they inadvertently discovered he could fix radios with a shoelace, bubblegum, and a copper wire.
