Get online and cram the tests for General until you're satisfied that you can't flunk the test. Then put up wire for HF and start the learning process. For equipment, buy used. Buy a full power 100 watt rig. Scout still likes the Icom IC-7200 now to be found on eBay.

As said before, time is short. Scout has six days of classes scheduled for June in SW Wyoming that will get your feet wet on radio. Consider doing that.

I'd definitely take them if I can scrounge up the coin.
