It's been a day. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed, skimmed the news (not good, as many have noted), got hit by TS Fred, power went out just as I'd gotten all my sign-up done. Then stuff got busy for a while. It all worked out before darkness fell, so call it a success.

Anyway, 50-ish here with a varied background. Empty nest, so I have more time than many. The usual civilian range skills. Some obscure tech skills. Ham. Backpacker. Been through too many hurricanes (today doesn't count), and if I get my clock truly cleaned one more time I might move to the Appalachians. Occasionally I get cross-threaded with a bottle of rum, but have not yet had the honor of appearing in the papers as Florida Man. Still, that day could come, don't count me out yet.

In the meantime, I'm here for the usual reasons: learn something, network, maybe pass on some knowledge. I'm going to spend a couple of days sifting through threads before shooting my mouth off, but I'll be around with posts before too long.
