FNG from WI

Post by WIguy73 »

Howdy,
Checking in from the Let's Go Brandon part of WI.
Thanks to all involved in the awesome pod casts and articles!
About me, I'm interested in bettering myself to do whatever it takes to care of my family, friends and community.
I love knowing a little about a lot. From Gardening/canning to long-term storage. Reloading to builds.
I'm and electrician and family man.
Hopefully with some help from fed ex, next week I start to learn a new skill in freeze drying.
Looking forward to learning and possible training with you all!
Thanks, WIguy

      Welcome!

Son went to UW Stout, so we spent some time up there. Love the Norski Nook!

      Currently in North Texas.

      Thanks for the welcomes!
I'm not quite northern WI but definitely out in the county at least. I enjoy the kettle moraine area.
Northern WI and U.P. got a bit of a pounding with snow this last week. I've managed to stay south of that so far but wouldn't mind it for the holidays and the remainder of bow hunting.
Texas is on my check list; I haven't made it that far southwest yet.

      Welcome WIguy!

hahah, yes let's go brandon! I'm learning about food prep as well, not freeze dried yet but we do have much of that stored up, very cool to do that yourself.

My husband and I are in California where we've built up our land for over 30 years and making our stand right here.

God Bless you and your family and new skills and Merry Christmas!

Thanks Roberta, God Bless to you and your family as well. Merry Christmas.
We have finally made it to our survival property just three years ago now but have been in the practice at smaller places in the community all along.
I am very fortunate that the original owner of 40 years was of somewhat the same mind set and nurtured this place into a sustainable property.
It's not perfect but a way better situation then most.
I'm hoping to try my first freeze dry batch tomorrow. I've been canning, freezing, dehydrating, smoking for a while and works great for putting up a good amount of food. I've learned that a few speed bumps with either weather or time can put a pretty good dent in the plans when growing and storing food. I think the freeze dryer will be a great back up to my back ups.
Glad to hear your feeling pretty secure on your property and wish you continued success!!
      Chris
