How I pack for The Fieldcraft Course

Post by Badlands Rifleman »

I just finished an article that I thought would be of use to some of you with “how to pack” questions. Check it out on my blog:

Good stuff, sir. I like the expanded E&E setup, that is something I have been working on for a while. Good to see it actually working in the field.
The slower I move, the more mags I need. Volume of Fire solves a lot of problems.

Thanks John, glad I could help. I’m pretty happy with how it’s working out. I pretty much did a complete tear down on my gear last summer, tried some different ideas and then this is where I’m at. I think the key is to build everything around your line 2 gear actually, then when that’s where it needs to be build around it.

I’ll echo the “good stuff” comment.

Something that I really liked was your specific location for every item, which to those who may not have thought it through allows you to get to the item you want/need immediately without searching or digging.

SOP goes a long way both individually and for teams.

Thanks man, it’s either something you plan or it eventually works itself out after a few days😁 I miss the outer pouches from the ALICE pack because they were great for segregating commonly used items from stuff you don’t use as often. I may add some FILBE sustainment pouches and play around with that idea, but it’s working fine for now too. I was brought up on the idea that you have to be able to find whatever you need in the dark without a light so I think packing SOP’s are a great idea.
