A little more specifics, thats like asking me about my pickup.

I can tell you that if I could, I'd get another.
Why is it so hot? Why am I in this hand basket? Where are we going?

Are there other products in that price range- 5-7k that you would prefer or is this pretty much a "best bang" for your buck option?

Can't help you there as the only other options I have are -14s or handheld thermal. I can say that with my Nikon glass I can make out man sized targets at 500 yd under a quarter moon.

If I could I'd love to side by side some of the ATN/Thor Day/Night scopes. It's a lower price point (like get two Thor for a single -30) and I wonder about the image clarity.

I wasn't aware this was a thing.
I believe the PVS-30 has a 5.56/308 BDC in it.
One side of the Reticle is for 5.56 and the other is 308.
Which is cool.

This is incorrect.

The PVS-30 sits in front of a day time optic (regular scope), so you will see whatever reticle the scope has. The PVS-30 is a NV device for letting you use you day scope and DOPE at night.

Ready Made Resources has them at close to a $5k price point. Refurbed by Knights IIRC.

I have mine semi-dedicated to a 20" AR-10 that I hate to admit it, I built almost specifically FOR a PVS-30 after watching "13 Hours".

That scene also brought home (to me anyway) the need for IR lasers in addition to NVG. No plans to mount IR lasers to the weapon tho, seems a bit silly for that platform.
